Bedrooms or Personal Retreats?

The bedrooms in this house were somewhat plain. They all had popcorn walls (like the ceilings) and muted colors. We took shovels and scrapped the walls, knocking down the points of the popcorn and leaving it as a textured wall. This worked great, after the walls were painted it really looked like a heavy texture on the wall. So we started in the Master Bedroom and they had gray walls with a red accent wall. Leah chose a richer gray for three walls and wanted to crackle the accent wall with black and purple. This was going to be awesome, but..... As you can see below the crackle didn't work. So we had to back up and go a different route. That's when we decided to wallpaper and change colors... I think it turned out great.

(It's hard to see the patter of the paper. The camera jacked it up)

Brett's Room was just a plain boring room with not much going on... It's a small space but with the right furniture has been turned into a great little boys room. We used a soft gray for the walls and painted a twin headboard to tie the bed in with the furniture. Now his room is a cool hang out for him and his friends.

The girls room was wallpapered and drab and with a little Leah...it's now FAB!!! Leah went with a Vintage look and used a lot of the antique items that she had to make this room come together... Since this picture was taken she has found the curtains for the windows. And they make the room!!! I have to say, if I were a little girl I would so want this room.

Dinning In???

Take a look at the before pictures of the Kitchen and Dinning Room. The Dinning Room walls were just like the the Living Room Walls...Plywood and molding strips. So we carried the same color and texture from the Living Room into the Dinning Room and Kitchen. We decided to leave the cabinets because the dark wood was just amazing against the wall color. We kept the same hardware but spray painted it. We ripped out the carpet and vinyl and had laminate flooring put down. Then tiled the back splash on a diamond pattern and trimmed it with glass tiles to coordinate. We left the appliances because it gave it a vintage look. Finished it off with some decorations and now we're thinking that we will just eat out because it looks too great to mess up!! HAHA!!!!!

No this was not Child Labor...This was I'm tired of hearing I'm bored and she/he touched me... It wasn't long and they decided that they would all get along and play together!!

The GRAND Room!!!

I decided to start with the Living room since it was the largest project and because it turned out so good!!! Below are pictures of from start to finish. And let me just first say that this room needed a make-over 10 years ago. It looked like a mobile home. Seriously, right down to the strips that hide the seams on the wall. We started on a Friday evening around 4 o'clock pm by taking down all the strips and then caulked in all the gaps around the rooms. After that we textured the walls with sheet rock mud and really made it chunky. Once that was done (and we also did the kitchen and dinning room) we stopped for a short break around 4 am... notice Leah and Debra resting on the job!! LOL. However it didn't last long. Leah and I went for some coffee and when we returned we started painting.... Debra went home around 5 am and we kept rolling the paint! HAHA!! Once the paint dried we came back over it with a glaze and wiped it down with a damp cloth. This really showed all the cracks and chunks of the texture. And once we painted the trim and covered up the teal line at the ceiling we thought we were done.... but not a chance... the wood stove was more of an eye sore than we had first seen. That's when we had to call in the reinforcements. Tommy came and built a frame for the stove to sit on and tiled it with the same tile that will be used in the hall and bathroom. Then we took panels of rock and put them on the wall behind the pipe on the stove. Once it was up it looked so much better but we weren't done yet!!!!! Leah and I mixed up some mud and smeared it in to the cracks to make it look like real rock. We then glazed it with the same brown glaze we used on the walls!! The finished product is AWESOME!!!! if I do say so myself. P. S. We worked on the the house from 4 pm on Friday until 8 pm on Sat with no sleep..... And showed back up Sunday to keep going!! But after we were done and the carpet was laid we got back to work decorating it!!! And it looks Fabulous!!! The pictures below do not do it justice!!!! I love this house and can't wait til the next project!!
